WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM? The program offers CONFIDENTIAL, professional counseling so that employees and their families can cope with personal issues. Employees may refer themselves or family members to the program by calling the EAP office for an appointment. Neither your employer nor co-workers will have any knowledge of the request.
WHAT IS THE COST?
You and / or your family members are eligible for up to EIGHT FREE sessions with an EAP counselor. The initial appointment helps the individual determine the kind of changes that may be needed. If additional assistance is necessary, referral to community agencies or other professionals will be made. These services are usually partially or totally covered by existing company health insurance. WHEN SHOULD YOU SEEK PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE FROM YOUR EAP? If you or a family member is concerned about personal problems, which may include parent/child or couple communication, financial, legal or family difficulties, alcohol or drug abuse, then the EAP can offer solutions. EXAMPLES: Parents have concerns about sudden behavior changes in their child such as loss of friends, mood swings, etc. - You begin experiencing sleepless nights and are having trouble concentrating at work.
- A family member may be drinking more than usual.
- You have difficulty delegating responsibility at home or work.
- You need suggestions for daycare referrals.
- An elderly parent needs a referral.
- You want ideas and solutions for your personal finances.
